In addition to rumors, we’ve also seen some devices launch with technology that will surely be fastened to Android smartphones in the coming year. First, there was the launch of the first quad-core powered smartphones combined with 4G LTE data speeds. Before 2012, smartphones boasting both of those features did not exist. Now, with the Galaxy Note 2 on shelves, they will likely be commonplace. 

 We also saw the release of the Droid DNA on Verizon’s 4G LTE network. The Droid DNA not only sports a quad-core processor with 4G LTE, but it also uses a 1080p full HD display that offers 440 pixels-per-inch. It’s the first phone in the United States to sport that kind of technology and it will likely, like the quad-core and 4G LTE, set a trend for the coming year. Of course, those aren’t the only features to look for in 2013. 

We should see some new thrilling designs, cameras that finally do Android phones justice, and quite possibly, Google’s best Android operating system yet in Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie which is likely going to be debuted at Google I/O in May. Those technological prospects are exciting but what about the devices that employ them? There are quite a few exciting Android devices for 2013 that are already on our radar. And there are some that haven’t materialized yet. That being said, rumored or not, here are the eight Android smartphones that we think will be the most exciting devices in the upcoming year. 

 Samsung Galaxy S4 

 The Samsung Galaxy S4, which will likely be the successor to the wildly popular Samsung Galaxy S3, is already rumored for a release in the first half of 2013 with a bunch of high-end features, features that could propel sales to new heights. On board the Galaxy S4 is said to be a 5-inch 1080p AMOLED display with 441 pixels-per-inch, a quad-core processor, 13MP camera and Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. In other words, it should definitely trump the Galaxy S3 which already is widely considered to be one of the best Android smartphones of all time. Look for the device to be one of the best Android smartphones of the year and easily, one of the most exciting.
